Pat Gilroy’s contract as Dublin football manager was extended by 12 months by the county board last night.

Gilroy revealed his plan of attack for the future at a meeting of the county committee last Monday and it was enough to convince the delegates he is the man to lead the Dubs until the end of the 2011 championship.

That meeting also saw Dr David Hickey replace selector Paul Nugent on the management team.

Gilroy led Dublin to a Leinster championship this season but there celebrations were shortlived as they were hammered in the All-Ireland quarter-final by eventual winners Kerry.
