The Government Information Bureau last evening issued the following statement on behalf of the Department of Defence: "A German 'plane crashed early this afternoon at Faha Mountain, near Cloghane, Co Kerry.

"The 'plane is a total wreck.

"The crew of six - two of whom were seriously injured and removed to hospital - have been interned."

The 'plane crashed during a dense fog, says our Dingle correspondent. People who heard an explosion went to the place and found the pilot with a broken leg and another officer with his spine injured.

The Local Security Force put the injured men into a collapsible rubber boat, taken from the wreckage of the 'plane, and brought them, together with the four uninjured members of the crew to Cloghane Civic Guard Barracks, where revolvers and an axe were surrendered.
