Gardaí in Dublin are studying CCTV footage after a Clare GAA fan was stabbed on O'Connell Street early this morning.

The man from Ennis is said to be "out of danger" but remains in the Mater Hospital for treatment. He had travelled to Dublin to attend the All Ireland Senior Hurling final in Croke Park.

He was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle outside the Savoy Cinema at 2 a.m., a Garda spokesman said. Four men were seen running from the scene shortly afterwards.

"We are examining CCTV footage and have taken statements. There was a large crowd of people there," the spokesman added.
