A TEENAGE girl was last night being questioned in Rathfarnham, Dublin, by gardai investigating a" fatal shooting earlier in the day.

A young Italian man was shot dead in a house in Coolamber Park, Templeogue, apparently during a domestic dispute.

Gardai who went to the house at 7.30 pm. found the body with, what appeared to be a shotgun wound to the head. The man was not being officially named last night but was named locally as Mr Franco Sacco (26).

The body was still in the house late last night and the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, was expected at the scene to conduct a preliminary examination.

Early indications were that the man had been shot during the afternoon and the girl, believed to be aged 15, later went voluntarily to Rathfarnham Garda station to help with the investigation.

There was no suggestion that the fatal shooting was connected to any "gangland" or drugs activity.

The house remained sealed off last night while the wife and relatives of the dead man were being comforted by neighbours.

An Italian family connected to a fast-food business on the south-side of the city is believed to have moved into the house shortly before Christmas.

The fatal shooting is the first such incident in Dublin since the killing of Mr Mark Dwyer (23) in Finglas on December 16th, 1996. The last murders in the city were of two women killed at Grangegorman on March 7th.
