Allegations of sexual abuse against a GAA club official are unfounded and "do not warrant further investigation" by the Garda, Limerick County GAA Board said last night. The board issued a statement after being notified by gardai of the results of their investigations into allegations of abuse against the official by an 18-year-old hurler.

A spokesman for the board said the person who was accused will be resuming his GAA duties.

Last night's statement followed earlier reports that an official had been asked to step aside from his duties until gardai investigated the matter. Gardai at Roxboro station in Limerick City confirmed earlier yesterday that they had received a complaint of "sexual misconduct by an official at a Co Limerick club" and that they were investigating the complaint.
