Four men, including two brothers, who were involved in a violent fracas in a pub were ordered by Sligo Circuit Court to produce substantial compensation when they again appear in court next month.

Before the court were Thomas Nooney (24), his brother Leroy (23) both of Jinks Avenue, Sligo, their cousin, Ronald Regan from Jinks Avenue and Keith Mc Loughlin of Carroll Drive, Cranmore. McLoughlin was celebrating his 21st birthday at the time of the incident.

The proprietor and his wife, two barmen and a customer at the Leitrim Bar, The Mall, Sligo, were injured in the fracas which ensued when the accused were refused drink because the bar was closing.

Two of the people injured in the disturbance in June last needed hospital treatment. The court was told that the incident was an "unprovoked assault".
