Cricket: England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff today underwent planned surgery on his troublesome left ankle.
The all-rounder had tissue removed from the joint in an operation which the England and Wales Cricket Board medical team described as "routine".
The ECB are refusing to put a timescale, on the anticipated length of Flintoff's recovery period.
Initial suggestions before today's surgery were that the 29-year-old could return in time for a three-match Test series against India, starting next month.
Flintoff had to miss the first two Tests against West Indies and was ruled out of the remainder of that four-match series during the week.
