Gardai were last night questioning five men in connection with the murder of two men last month, whose bodies were found in the Grand Canal near Newcastle, Co Dublin. Mr Patrick Murray and Mr Darren Carey, from Ballyfermot, Dublin, had been shot in the head. Gardai believe the killings were drug-related.

The arrested men, from Ballyfermot and Clondalkin, are being held in Naas and Newbridge stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
