THE Independent TD for Donegal South West, Mr Thomas Gildea, has been approached in recent days by both Fianna Fail and the Rainbow Coalition to secure his support, Mr Gildea has confirmed.
But he said such contacts were only of a "tentative" nature and had not led to in depth discussions.
He had not yet made up his mind how he would vote when the Dail assembles tomorrow. "I have had no major approaches," Mr Gildea said.
He has organised an advisory committee of members of his campaign team to help him reach a decision on the matter.
He stressed that, although he was elected on an anti MMDS platform, he would consider other issues before deciding whom he would support as Taoiseach.
These included the need to improve the local-infrastructure in south-west Donegal and tackle unemployment and emigration in the area. "I have not made a commitment to anybody as yet," Mr Gildea said. "I still have an open mind on the matter."
