There are growing fears today for the future of up to 70 jobs in Co Clare as a Shannon-based company prepares to make an announcement about its future.

Pan European Communications (PEC), based in the Shannon Industrial Estate, is expected to announce today the closure of its facility.

PEC is a subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, which also owns the express shipping company DHL, and was founded in 1998 to meet the increasing demand from businesses wishing to outsource call centre services.

The company operates a round-the-clock call centre offering customer support, telesales, lead generation/verification and technical support.
