London - Mohamed al Fayed is suing the French government for what he alleges was a failure to properly investigate the deaths of his son Dodi and Britain's Princess Diana in a 1997 car crash.

His lawyers said yesterday that magistrate Herve Stephan had failed to look into a criminal complaint of "invasion of privacy" against photographers, whom Mr Fayed blames for a chase through Paris leading up to the high-speed crash.
