Explosive device made safe in Dublin

The Army bomb disposal team has made safe an improvised explosive device at a house in Coolock in Dublin this morning.

The Army team was called to the house at Belcamp Cresent shortly after 3am following a request from Gardaí.

The area was cordoned off and some neighbouring houses were evacuated.

An Army spokesman said the device, located inside the house, was viable but was made safe in situ without the need for a controlled explosion.

It was removed to a secure military location for further examination before being handed over to gardaí to assist in their investigation.

The scene was declared safe at 3.45am.
