Algiers - Eritrea and Ethiopia, under international pressure to end their border war, began "proximity talks" in Algiers yesterday, Algerian state radio reported. The Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr Haile Woldensae, and his Ethiopian counterpart, Mr Seyoum Mesfin, were in the Algerian capital for the talks through an Algerian intermediary on a peace plan drawn up by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
