Film institute's bag of goodies

A BAG of filmic goodies is on offer from the Film Institute of Ireland again this winter

A BAG of filmic goodies is on offer from the Film Institute of Ireland again this winter. Its new programme promises another busy year with a seminar on surrealism and film; a nationwide tour of the German film Beyond Silence and a workshop on film and music in association with the National Concert Hall. There will also be screenings and workshops on My Left Foot along with publication of a new study guide for the new Leaving Cert English syllabus. And much more.

Last year the FII dealt with 12,000 students at over 100 screenings and workshops. It produced five education guides, delivered six in-service training events and ran a week-long summer school for teachers at the IFC. Tony Tracy, of the FII, says the new programme "builds upon these initiatives and continues our mission as the leading organisation in the development of film studies throughout the formal education sector".
