A Dublin rapist was today sentenced to 20 years, ten of them suspended, for sexually assaulting and falsely imprisoning a Kildare woman he offered to drive home.
Niall Healy (30), of Palmerstown Wood, Clondalkin, was also convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury in June of falsely imprisoning the woman (24), sexually assaulting her and assault causing her harm early on the morning of July 20th, 2001, on the outskirts of a Co Kildare town.
Mr Justice Barry White sentenced Healy to 20 years for aggravated sexual assault and the same term for falsely imprisoning the woman.
He suspended ten years of both sentences on condition that Healy undergo treatment available to him in prison and co-operate with the probation service on his release.
Healy, who was jailed in 1993 for rape, was also handed down five years for sexual assault and two years for assault, all to run concurrently.
