A company director whose BMW was "clocked" doing 119 mph in a 50 mph zone, yesterday won his appeal in the Circuit Court against disqualification from driving.

Mr Barry Delves (29), of Daly's Lane, Rush, Co dublin, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving a year ago in the District Court. His excuse was that he had been late for his own birthday party.

Mr Tony Hunt, defending, needed a car to commute and for his professional activities.

Judge Elizabeth Dunne, said she would allow the appeal but the endorsement of his licence and £150 fine would remain.
