Dublin Institute of Technology has reversed a decision to cancel two courses, following the response of students.

DIT originally decided to withdraw the courses shortly before the CAO first round offers were announced.

When DIT cancelled FT 256 and FT 257, Business Studies with Spanish and Business Studies with German, distressed applicants told The Irish Times they were "devastated".

DIT had cancelled the courses because they did not have enough students to make them economically feasible.

However, DIT has reversed the decision and has offered the courses in today's second round to the students concerned. While there will not be enough students to make up a full class, DIT is planning to advertise vacant places on these courses. Students who were not offered a course in round two, will be able to apply directly to DIT.

All third-level institutions have been advised by the CAO to finalise their course lists by May 1st, in time for the CAO to inform guidance counsellors.
