One of Derry's most senior fire officers has said he fears one of his officers could be seriously injured following two weekend attacks on fire crews. District Commander William Lynch said the Bogside and Ballymagroarty attacks seemed pre-planned attempts to lure his officers into an ambush.

"It has become apparent to me that these are part of a series of concerted attacks on the fire brigade. This is very worrying because I have a duty of care for my own personnel and I am very worried for their health and safety," he said.
