Work is due to begin in the next few days on the demolition of three British Army patrol bases in Co Fermanagh as a military scale-down along the border continues.

The work at Annaghmartin, Clonatty Bridge and Mullan Bridge follows the recently completed demolition of three other sites at Killyvilly, Rosscor Bridge and Wattle Bridge.

It comes after an announcement from RUC Chief Constable Sir Ronnie Flanagan in September last year that the six bases were to be demolished.

Civilian contractors are due to complete the work in around four to five months after which the land will be returned to its original owners.
