Abidjan - The military junta in Ivory Coast last night imposed a night-time curfew after troops took to the streets demanding payment of a bonus. Soldiers were on the streets of Abidjan early yesterday demanding to be paid $8,500 each as a reward for the December 24th coup that toppled president Henri Konan Bedie, according to the junta. Military leader Gen Robert Guei at one stage took refuge in the headquarters of the paramilitary police but later appeared on national television to appeal for an end to the action.
