Man arrested after car caught driving at over 220km/h

A man is to appear in court in Fermoy, Co Cork, after gardaí observed a car driving at a speed in excess of 220km/h.

Gardaí said that the man was due before Fermoy District Court in connection with the offence, which occurred on the M8 near Fermoy on Saturday.

“At this speed, he failed to observe the unmarked Roads Policing Unit car which he overtook and was arrested for dangerous driving,” gardaí said on social media.

The man has been charged to appear at Fermoy District Court and faces heavy penalties if convicted.
