Man in court charged with double murder in Co Louth

Jason O’Driscoll (32) remanded in custody over deaths of two men in 2012

A 33-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged in relation to a double murder in Co Louth four years ago.

Jason O’Driscoll with an address at Richmond Avenue, Dublin 3, is accused of murdering Joseph Redmond and Anthony Burnett on March 7th, 2012.

The murders are said to have taken place at Ravensdale Park, Dromad, Co Louth.

Dundalk District Court heard Mr O’Driscoll was arrested at Dublin Airport at 12.24am on Wednesday following his extradition from Spain.

He had been arrested in Alicante in April after disembarking from a flight from Northern Ireland.

Det Insp Marry told Judge Conal Gibbons that at 1.35am, Mr O’Driscoll was formally charged with the murders. The court heard Mr O’Driscoll made no reply.

Det Inspector Marry applied for the accused to be remanded in custody and this was consented to.

Legal aid was granted and the case was adjourned to Cloverhill District Court on June 15th.

Mr Burnett and Mr Redmond, from Ballybough in Dublin’s north inner city, were found dead in the front seats of a car at Ravensdale Park. It is believed they had been shot in the head before the vehicle was set alight.
