An application for a mandatory interlocutory injunction to compel a widow to attend an inquest into the death of her murdered husband was adjourned for a week in the High Court yesterday.

The injunction was sought by the Attorney General against Ms Linda Lee, of Seabury Park, Malahide, Co Dublin, directing her to comply with Section 26 of the Coroner's Act 1962 and the witness summons served to her on October 6th, 1999, issued by the Dublin City Coroner to compel her to attend as a witness at the inquest into the death of Mr Gerard Lee (31).

Mr Gerard Hogan SC, for the Attorney General, told Mr Justice O'Sullivan that the inquest had been adjourned on five occasions when the defendant declined, refused or neglected to attend, despite a witness summons having been served on her.

The inquest into the death of Mr Lee, shot dead during a birthday party for him in Coolock, Dublin, on March 9th, 1996, has been adjourned to February 17th, the court was told.
