Cork City FC official Tom Coughlan has secured leave in the High Court to take judicial review proceedings against the FAI for the recent sanctions it imposed on him.

Earlier this week the FAI confirmed that its independent disciplinary committee had issued a €5,000 fine and a ban on Mr Coughlan from football- related activities.

At the High Court yesterday, Mr Coughlan sought leave to take judicial review proceedings against the FAI aimed at quashing the ban imposed on his performing any football-related activities for 12 months, and at lifting the €5,000 fine imposed on him.

Mr Justice Michael Peart granted leave to judicially review the FAI decision, and the matter was put in for mention on January 29th.
