£100 billion technical error:The credit crunch hit one Scottish student particularly hard late last month when he realised he was overdrawn by £100 billion (€104 billion).

Donald Moffat, who lives in Ayrshire, was less than pleased to see his Barclays account showing two separate withdrawals of £50 billion. Moffat was a bit miffed with all the calls he had to make to find out what was going on. Eventually the bank admitted a "technical error" was to blame and offered £10 compensation for all the hassle.
