Conduit, the Irish information provider that operates the 11 850 and East directory inquiries systems, is receiving almost twice as many calls this year compared to 2000.
The company also announced an 88 per cent growth in revenue for the first half of this year.
Call volumes were up 92 per cent from 19.8 million last year to 38 million calls over the same period this year.
The company says it expects to be in profit for the second half of the year as revenue increased to €13m with profit margins climbing 9 per cent.
"These were significant achievements considering the impact of current market conditions are having on our software business," said Mr Liam Young, Conduit’s Chief Executive.
The company has over 1400 employees in its call centres across Europe and its information software development subsidiary, which specialises developing value added services for mobile operators and information service providers.
The company is listed on both the Frankfurt Neuer Markt and the Irish stock Exchange technology market.
