The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) has issued its response to a national consultation on wholesale broadcasting markets.

The purpose of the review was to assess the level of competition in wholesale broadcasting transmission services in Ireland.

In a brief statement this morning, ComReg said said it had considered the views of all respondents and concluded that RTÉ Networks are dominant in the national transmission of analogue terrestrial TV and analogue terrestrial radio.

Therefore, the statement said, ComReg is proposing to oblige RTÉ to operate in a transparent and non-discriminatory fashion in these markets.

ComReg will notify the European Commission and other European regulators of its  findings.
