WASHINGTON - President Clinton said yesterday he stood, firmly behind Mr Anthony Lake, his nominee for director of central intelligence.

CBS News reported on Wednesday that Mr Lake was questioned last week by the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section about an apparently inadvertent failure to sell off more than $200,000 in energy stocks.
