Thieves yesterday escaped with a substantial quantity of cigarettes after hijacking a delivery lorry in Belfast.
At 10.30am a black coloured, five-door, Volkswagen Golf car drove at high speed to block the path of a delivery vehicle at Haywood Avenue in Belfast.
Four men got out of the vehicle and ordered the driver to stay in his seat. They then took a large quantity of cigarettes from the van and put them in the car.
The gang’s car then reversed in the direction of the Ormeau Road before driving away from the scene and towards the city centre.
