Charlton appeal Konchesky red card

Charlton have appealed to the English Football Association over the sending off of defender Paul Konchesky on Saturday.

Charlton have appealed to the English Football Association over the sending off of defender Paul Konchesky on Saturday.

The England Under-21 full-back was shown a straight red card after a collision with Chelsea midfielder Enrique de Lucas.

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley said he felt the decision was harsh and now the club will go to the FA to try and have the sending-off - and subsequent suspension - quashed.

Curbishley said: "The video clearly shows that there was an accidental clash of heads between the two players, and at no time was an elbow involved. Therefore we're asking the FA to take a look at the incident".
