Reconnaissance troops preparing to deploy to Chad underwent final tests yesterday to make sure they are ready for combat during their peace-keeping mission in the war-torn country.

The cavalry troopers, who will be deployed to Chad in mid-September as part of the 101st Infantry Division, were undergoing tests that would qualify them to use weaponry on some of the Irish Defence Forces’ most up-to-date vehicles.
