FARMER SUPPORT:ALL THE major farming groups have now said they will support the treaty. This follows the decision by the Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers Association (ICSA) late on Wednesday to recommend a Yes vote, writes Seán Mac Connell, Agriculture Correspondent.
The ICSA national executive voted in favour of recommending a Yes vote by 59 per cent to 41 per cent at a meeting in Portlaoise.
ICSA president Malcolm Thompson said all elected representatives should carefully consider that the farming community cannot be taken for granted.
He said the efforts put in to achieving a Yes vote by all the main political parties should be matched by their efforts in fighting for a better deal for farmers at WTO, EU and national level.
