A Christian unity service at St Anne's Cathedral in Belfast yesterday was attended by the Catholic Primate, Archbishop Brady; the President of the Methodist Church, the Rev Kenneth Best; the vice-president of the Irish Council of Churches, the Rev Edmund Mawhinney; and the Dean of Belfast, the Very Rev Jack Shearer.

The Free Presbyterian Church decided not to hold a picket outside. There will be a similar service in St Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh tonight.
