Shopkeepers in Belfast have been advised by police to search their premises after an incendiary bomb was found in a shop in the city today.

The device was discovered in the Birthday Store card and soft toy shop at Boucher Crescent in the south of the city.

The PSNI said the device was hidden under a soft toy in the shop and it was not known if it was planted today or before the store closed on Christmas Eve.

An army bomb disposal expert made the device safe after staff raised the alarm.

Police called on all key holders of commercial premises in Belfast to carry out a thorough search amid fears further incendiaries might have been planted.
