The number of people employed by construction companies fell marginally in May compared with numbers working the sector during the same month on 2006.
The Index of Employment in Construction released by the Central Statistics Office this morning shows that there was a 0.2 per cent fall in construction employment last May.
The monthly employment index dropped from 109.0 in May 2006 to 108.8 in May 2007. The final figure for April 2007 showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent when compared with April 2006.
