A brother of the murdered criminal known as "The General" has been jailed for 41/2 years for having 737 morphine tablets for sale.

Judge Cyril Kelly dated Michael Cahill's sentence to start from December 15th, 1995 and suspended the final two and a half years on him entering into a bond.

Cahill (32), of Eugene Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing the drugs for sale or supply on May 22nd, 1993 at his home.

Defence counsel Mr Gregory Murphy SC said a co defendant in the same matter had been jailed for 18 months and Mr Justice Michael Moriarty who also dealt with that case had indicated he would impose the same sentence on Cahill when he took the plea.
