The Irish Bridge Union's all-Ireland team championship (Egan Trophy), played in St Malachy's College, Belfast, was won by B. J. O'Brien, M. MacDonagh, T. Roche, and P. O Briain (Contract Bridge Association of Ireland) with a score of 101 victory points.

Runners-up were I. Lindsay, D. Greenwood, A. T. R. Anderson, and M. Rosenberg (Northern Ireland Bridge Union) with 94. Third came E. and A. Cleary, B. Kirby, and G. Lessells (CBAI) with 79.

Limerick, represented by P. Liston, P. Quinn, M. Burke, and G. Connolly, registered a remarkably high score of 419 points in the all-Ireland inter-county team championship (Burke Trophy).

Runners-up were J. Heneghan, T. Walsh, A. Onishuk, and K. de Raeymaeker (Dublin City) with 374. Third came J. Cunningham, M. Harris, B. Morris, and A. Seery (Westmeath) with 366. Best third session: S. and R. Masterson, J. and P. Connolly (Longford).

The CBAI's national pairs championship for the Lambert Cup, which is restricted to intermediate A players, and those in the master grade with less than 30 national points, will be decided over two sessions next Saturday (1.30 p.m.) at the Regent, Waterloo Road, Dublin. Dublin regained the Cantor-Dowling Shield when they travelled to Birkenhead, and defeated Liverpool by 147 victory points to 121.
