A bomb caused a powerful blast outside Zagreb city hall today, damaging several cars, police and state radio said.
Police said the device had been planted in a nearby rubbish container. They denied a radio report that one person had been hurt, saying the blast caused no injuries.
The radio said the blast occurred at 9.30 a.m. and the ensuing fire destroyed eight cars parked nearby. Witnesses said thick black smoke was visible from afar.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.
