An explosion killed two Palestinian activists in a car in the West Bank city of Jenin today. Palestinian officials blamed Israel for the blast.

A Palestinian security official identified the dead men as Ikrima Isteidi and Majdi Tayyed, both activists in Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction. The official said Isteidi was wanted by Israel.

"We accuse the Israelis of this explosion and they have to bear responsibility, said Haider Ir-Sheid," the acting governor of Jenin.

The Israeli army had no immediate comment.

Israel has killed several Palestinian activists with booby trapped bombs since a Palestinian revolt erupted over a year ago after peace talks deadlocked. Several Palestinian militants have also died while preparing or transporting bombs.
