McDonald's says adding nutritional information to all its food and drink packaging is one of a number of ideas under consideration.

Fast food chains have been increasingly criticised by health campaigners who claim their products contribute to growing levels of obesity, particularly in young people.

In recent weeks McDonald's reported its first ever financial loss, announced plans to shut 175 "underperforming" outlets in 10 countries.

A Big Mac contains 22.9g of fat, of which 9.8g are saturates, and 11.6g of sugar, McDonald's says on its web site.

Meanwhile a large portion of fries has 18g of fat and 0.8g sugar, while a large banana milkshake contains 79.1g of sugar and 12.7g fat.
