The chairman of German media
giant Bertelsmann, Mr Thomas Middelhoff, plans to leave the company, the Bildnewspaper reported today.
Bildreported in a fax sent to news media that the company's supervisory board would name board member Mr Gunter Thielen as Middelhoff's successor at a meeting this afternoon.
The newspaper said that mounting differences between Middelhoff and Bertelsmann's chief shareholders about the future direction of the company were behind the decision.
