The striker was "fuelled by drink" when he tried to get into Jumpin' Jaks nightclub in Cardiff Millennium Plaza after it had closed its doors, Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard.

Bellamy (24) admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

A charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words of behaviour that were racially aggravated was withdrawn by the court.

Solicitors for Bellamy, who was fined £750 sterling, issued a statement in which he apologised for his behaviour but claimed he had been "severely provoked".
