Aston Villa deny Angel to be sold

Aston Villa have denied reports that they are about to sell club record signing Juan Pablo Angel.

Aston Villa have denied reports that they are about to sell club record signing Juan Pablo Angel.

There is speculation that Villa are looking to cash in on their Stg£9.5million capture from River Plate and that the player is unhappy following the resignation of manager John Gregory.

Angel, who has scored 10 goals in 17 Premiership starts this season, was recently linked with a move to Parma.

But the midlands club are adamant that there is no possibility of Angel going anywhere in the foreseeable future - and in any case the European transfer window closes tomorrow.

Villa secretary Steve Stride told the club's website: "The rumours concerning Juan Pablo Angel's future have not come from us and the club strongly refute any suggestions that he is about to be sold.

"With regard to the rumours that he could even be leaving by the end of the week, that is simply ludicrous."
