Arsenal will proceed with plans to build a new football stadium after a London High Court judge rejected a challenge by local residents to refuse planning permission.

The Premiership club want to move to a site in Ashburton Grove, north London, a mile from their Highbury home, because capacity at their existing ground is limited to 36,000. The proposed stadium will seat 60,000 fans.

The legal challenge was launched by two residents concerned about the environmental and social impact of the development.

Arsenal can not expand the capacity at Highbury because of planning restrictions.
