Armed raiders rob Longford bank

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at an Ulster Bank branch in Co Longford yesterday evening.

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at an Ulster Bank branch in Co Longford yesterday evening.

Three men wearing dark clothing entered the branch in Granard as it was closing at approximately 5pm. One was armed with what gardaí believe to be a pistol, while another was armed with a knife. All three had their faces covered.

They threatened staff and took an undisclosed sum of money, according to gardaí.

A male member of staff was assaulted in the raid. He was taken to Mullingar General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
