Gardaí have appealed to the public for information on a serious assault in Dublin city last weekend.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are investigating the incident at Lennox Street, Dublin 8 at 4.55am on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man was seriously injured in the assault and taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Gardaí are anxious to trace three men in connection with the attack.

The first man is described as being in his early 20s, 174cm (5ft 8in) in height with dark facial hair. He was wearing a red check shirt, dark jeans and spoke with a Dublin accent.

The second man was also described as being in his early 20s and was wearing a pale blue shirt, dark jeans and also spoke with a Dublin accent.

The third man wore dark jeans.

The men left the scene in the direction of Stamer Street and onto the South Circular Road in the direction of Harrington Street.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who have information is asked to contact gardaí.
