Allianz today was hammering out a planned euro 23 billion bid for Dresdner Bank, but key questions remain about how it will integrate Germany's third-largest bank and what the costs will be.

Allianz is due to unveil its bid on Monday.

Questions that remain include exactly what Allianz plans to pay Dresdner shareholders, how Allianz will fund it, and how the new, combined bancassurer will be structured.

Dresdner Bank aims to win final approval for the takeover from its supervisory board at the weekend, which would create a European bancassurance giant, they said.

The takeover plan, first leaked late on Wednesday, could lead to a dramatic overhaul of Germany's financial landscape.
