AN ALGERIAN who was the first man convicted of al-Qaeda-related terrorism charges in Northern Ireland is being deported to Algeria, it is understood.

Abbas Moutrab was collected from Maghaberry Prison, near Lisburn, by officials from the UK Border and Immigration Agency for deportation on Tuesday afternoon, sources have confirmed. He was convicted in 2005 of downloading information on how to blow up a passenger jet and was originally arrested in Belfast on suspected immigration offences.
