A MAN HAS been remanded in custody for two weeks charged with the murder of a woman in south Dublin last week.

A MAN HAS been remanded in custody for two weeks charged with the murder of a woman in south Dublin last week.

Clive Butcher (43), a British national with an address at Ranelagh Road, Ranelagh, Dublin, was remanded in custody until January 6th by Judge Conal Gibbons at a sitting of Cloverhill District Court yesterday.

Last Friday, Mr Butcher had been charged at Dublin District Court with the murder of Rebecca Hoban (28) at a shelter for the homeless in Ranelagh.

Ms Hoban, from Dublin's south inner city, was found with knife wounds last Wednesday afternoon. She was taken to St Vincent's hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
