70 prisoners freed in raid

Sao Paulo - Twelve heavily armed men stormed into a police station early yesterday and freed 70 prisoners, police said.

Sao Paulo - Twelve heavily armed men stormed into a police station early yesterday and freed 70 prisoners, police said.

The jail in the district station in Sao Vicente, about 70 km from Sao Paulo, has a capacity of 60 prisoners but was holding three times that number. One police officer was wounded in the raid.
